Bacon Stovies

2 pound fore hock bacon -- (2 to 2 1/2)

Mustard powder

2 pound potatoes -- peeled and sliced

Black pepper

1 pound onions -- chopped

1 bay leaf

Milk as required

Cut the bacon into 1 inch cubes. In a heavy saucepan or casserole dish,
place alternate layers of bacon, potatoes and onions, sprinkling each layer
with a little mustard powder and pepper. Finish with a layer of potatoes.
Add the bay leaf and sufficient milk to come level with the top layer of
potatoes. Bring to a low boil, cover and simmer gently for 1 1/2 to 2 hours
