Beef and Pasta Skillet

1 1/2 lb ground beef -- browned
1/2 onion -- chopped
1 C sliced mushrooms
2 TBSP oil
1 12 oz can condensed cream of mushroom soup -- undiluted
(Campbell's)
1 12 oz can beef broth -- undiluted (Campbell's )
12 oz water
2 C medium egg noodles -- uncooked
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp white pepper
1 tsp dried parsley
1 pinch sugar
Saute the onion and mushroom in oil in a deep saute pan with a lid until
soft. Remove to a dish.
Brown the beef in the saute pan; when it begins to colour, return the
vegetables and add the seasonings. Stir in the canned soups and noodles;
bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer about 10 minutes
until the pasta is tender. Adjust seasonings.
It would be very easy to go too far with this simple, satisfying dish, and
try to add this and that, and of course you may; but the key to this dish is
its satisfying simplicity. Great for busy, chilly evenings. Serves five.
Recommended sides (choose one): steamed broccoli; green beans; green peas;
spinach; asparagus.
